One more cake for the collection
My youngest turned 8 in April and asked me for a Spring themed birthday party. She even listed all the elements that needed to be present in the cake:
- Green fondant as a base
- Lots of pretty flowers
- Butterflies
- Ladybugs
- Bumble bees
- Bunnies
Hmmm, my first thought was: “That equals a lot of work!!!” LOL
Well, in total this cake took me about 8 to 9 hours to get together. I spent most of the time hand modeling the decorations but the baking and final setting up were pretty quick to get done.
Since I was once again using the cake for both the kids party and the family party, I made lots of cupcakes to match the main cake.
My sweet husband also made me a cake/cupcake stand that I can use from now on for this effect.
Here is a photo of the final masterpiece

Isn’t it gorgeous??? I’m so proud of this one.
I actually hand painted the fondant with green food coloring at the bottom to resemble grass. The stems of the flowers were also painted by hand.
And what of the stand??? I’m so proud of my husband! He does awesome work! Now I have a nice, sturdy stand that I can use for my cupcake displays
.
Here are some more photos of the details on the cake:

I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed making this cake
And don’t be shy about leaving me some comments….
Take care,

Catia, that is a lovely cake. My favourite part is the garden with the rabbits, but I love the detail in all of it. And that stand is perfect for what you do. Thumbs up for your DH.
Thanks Bea! Yes, I love the carrot patch too! And my daughter was adamant that I had to incorporate bunnies on the cake. LOL
